The conceptual framework of the «Castes» collection is based on the artists' interest in church aesthetics, the work with raw materials, their historical past and their national heritage. As part of the fair two objects of contemporary arts and crafts will be presented — coffee table and a mirror made in the techniques of kiln cast glass and artistic work with silvered brass.
The process of the art research began with a reinterpretation of the 8th-century image of a Georgian icon’s crown, covered with precious stones set in castes. The black smoothness of the resin-like glass surfaces of the objects, combined with silver-plated brass, serves as an image of the cosmic corpus — holistic and jewel-like solidity. The strictness and purity of forms, balancing at the intersection of functional design and abstract art, combine the archaic and the modern in a timeless dialogue.
