On 12 February, a violent incident occurred in my family: my younger brother was beaten after a verbal conflict with a high school student. The very fact of what happened revealed differences in how to respond within the family. My parents, my sister and I were included in a single emotional node, but they lived in different ways. Dad preferred silence. Mother’s reaction was manifested through verbal aggression and anxiety for her son. My sister was angry and was trying to help find the offender. I sought immediate action by gathering friends with the intention of responding.
After a statement to the police and other authorities, there was an internal distance: the unifying event paradoxically divided each one into separate rooms, literally and metaphorically. The series captures this transition from general passion to individual experience. As part of the project, I asked all members of the family the same question: «What to do next?» the project does not reconstruct violence or visualize the conflict itself.
