In this project, I explore two Hungarian films — White Palms and Larry — reinterpreting them through visual language and a system of symbolic imagery.
Larry (2022, Szilárd Bernáth)
The series is based on the story of a person striving to be heard despite both internal and external constraints. The series is inspired by the experimental typography of Pyotr Bankov, where text becomes an independent visual image. Repetition, layering, and distortion of letters reflect the protagonist’s speech, which is affected by stuttering and inner tension.
White Palms, (2006, Szabolcs Hajdu)
At the core of the film are sport, discipline, and the pressure of a system that leaves marks on one’s life. In this series, I use handprints, chalk traces, and expressive typography that reference harsh training routines and constant control. Through repetition and disruptions of structure, the posters address the tension between the individual and the system.
