The island, son, and a bunch of wonders: this is the story of King Saltan’s ability to miss all the interesting things — from the birth of an heir to the construction of an entire city. Squirrel stories and 33 rich men seemed fantastic until the king personally looked at the island. Maybe it’s time for us to believe in a fairy tale and dive into the exciting adventures of heroes.

In my series of illustrations to one of Pushkin’s fairy tales, I tried to reduce the paphos of the original story a little bit and make the stories more comical. I decided to use bright colors and different textures to illustrate the fabulous atmosphere and decorativeity.
