The novel of Mopasana remains valid to this day; it has undergone a series of simulations and eight screenings. The last of them, the ninth was filmed by the British, Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormrod. They invited Robert Pattinson, a heart vampire from the Twilight. This decision led to contradictory reviews: some critics decided that the hero from the first minute of the film was represented by a monster — without gradual transformation, as in the case of Mopassan; others saw in it a machismically accurate exposure to the image of a predator who lived only by instincts.
