The project, «High Dominants», is a study of how unique high-rise structures shape a visual image and create the very unforgettable silhouette by which we learn the city. My task was to translate this vast, almost heavenly image into a tactile and personal format of a souvenir, a wreath that becomes a sort of miniatural monument that can be carried with it.
The key method in my work is architectural deconstruction. I have studied carefully every vertical selected to find its most recognizable, characteristic details: the longlines of the bell, the shape of the tent, the shape of the spires, or the ausural elements. These architectural fragments were then stylized and turned into beads. So the process of building the keyboard from these beads becomes a metaphor: we kind of re-building the tower in the miniatur, creating not an exact copy, but its essential, recognizable image, missing through the lens of personal perception.
The 3D printing technology was selected to produce the logs because it is optimally suited to all the requirements of the project. This method allows for detailed reproduction of architectural elements. At the same time, modern polymeric press materials have the necessary impact strength and durability to guarantee the durability of souvenirs, which will be used daily on keys, bags and backpacks. In addition, technology provides flexibility: it allows for easy replication of the series. The 3D seal has the perfect balance between artistic expression and practicality.
