«MEZEN» — COLLECTIBLE LIGHT OBJECTS is a series of textile light objects that reinterpret the traditional Mezen painting style.

The Mezen series is an interpretation of the graphic ornamental language of the Russian North through textile and light. Each object is based on a woven textile surface handcrafted in the Helen Loom studio. The textile is then reinforced with a special compound that creates a rigid and stable structure, allowing the object to take on a sculptural form. Afterwards, the surface is hand-painted with acrylic paints. The ornaments are inspired by the traditions of Mezen painting, yet reinterpreted through original sketches developed in the studio and transferred onto textile surfaces.

Mezen painting is known for its rhythmic graphic language and symbolic imagery. Horses, birds, and solar symbols traditionally represent movement, protection, and vital energy. In this series, these motifs are transferred onto textile surfaces and luminous forms, creating objects in which traditional ornament enters into a dialogue with contemporary design. The woven structure visible beneath the painting becomes part of the composition itself, revealing the interaction between craft, material, and light.

Helen Loom studio also develops custom textile light objects for interior spaces, adapting scale, color, and composition to specific projects.
