Van Gogh once wrote a story…
One day, while still a painter, Van Gogh wrote a story about a series of portraits of Bonaparte, under one of which Leonardo da Vinci’s last masterpiece, «Dama with a whip,» was hidden. He called the story «12 Napoleons» and hid his manuscript in one of the chairs of his brother’s living room garrison, Theo. The garrison was subsequently auctioned. Most of the chairs remained in France, a couple of grand went to England, the same one allegedly ended up in Russia.

Van Gogh once dressed up as Eduard Mane and spent the entire day poking around, begging for papyroses and messing with work. But he couldn’t fool anyone because he forgot to make his nails, so everyone knew that Camille Piszarro was in front of them.

One day, Van Gogh and his brother, Theo, opened a drinking house, and it began to earn a lot of money, as it worked at night. But Van Gogh painted his street terrace under the starry sky. The painting had a very strong impact on the regular cafe — they suddenly realized the beauty of the world around them, and they were ashamed of being drunk every night to the state of cattle. So the commercial venture of Van Gogh and his brother, Theo, was burned.

Van Gogh once wrote a letter to Tolstom, «Grandpa Lev, get me out of here…» and so on. But the director of the psychiatric clinic, after reading this letter, never sent it. By the way, he didn’t like Tolstoy himself, but he was an admirer of Victor Hugo.
