Objective

As part of the design Zech special, we were given the task of creating an Identifier for the Gorky Kinostudy, a studio from a 111-year-old history that did not have a single visual language that meets its modern requirements.

Taras Balabaev is the main critic, and was responsible for the branding and display that reflects the logo idea and is capable of being broadcast in cinemas Boris Zhuravalev — the one who assembled the team in its current composition, as well as the designer of the presentation and the author of the script and the final version of the logo Darya Zuzin — our intellectual inspiration, the one who helped the team to compete, and the team leader outside the box. Working on a study of studio values, as well as a paint show Grigory Kuzmichov conducted a thorough analysis of the history of the studio, as well as a study of competitors, and identified the core of the target audience Illa Lang, the soul of the team, but more importantly, the author of the larger part of the measurement and the expansion of the identics into different scenarios and wear them.

During the week, we studied the history of the film studio to understand its values, as well as to select options for an updated logo that would allow us to build further communication.

To give us more insight into the history of the studio, the client organized a tour of the studio’s pavilions and museum for the Design-Cech teams.

For ourselves, during the tour, we noted the visual fragmentation of the visual language of the current communications.

Hot Hall is the site where the customer was briefed.

The customer spoke more about the early research and the teams received a vector for the movement and sample of concepts.

After a briefing with the client, we decided to develop five concepts per person, and then we voted in two stages, in which we identified two winners: screen and vectors representing three target audiences: film business, the state (the studio is the state) and the audience, which is also divided into the family segment and young people, the core of Central Asia. The curators noted that the elements appeared to be fragmented and that more in-depth research was needed to create a more coherent concept

During the day, Daria and Grisch conducted a study of 70 slides, which made it possible to combine the two finals into one. The only thing the handlers got into was printing.

Working in the creative cluster

For two days, we’ve been working at the walls of the creative industry agency in Moscow. On the first day, speakers spoke, and we were working on our concept. The curators and speakers helped us in this, and at the end of the day we came to a new, final, logo version.

The advice included the improvement of the metaphor (the closure of the diaphragm symbolizing the focus on important through the screen) and the addition of symmetry.

On the second day, we came to a division of duties: Elijah, Grigory and Boris took on an anith and a presentation, and Darya and Taras took on a show and a show, respectively. While we were working on the I.D., we asked our V.A. curators questions about ideas and technical aspects, particularly in the after-effects program.

Finalization of the presentation

On the night before the presentation, Ilya Lang was doing the best he could. For example, a line of clothing from the studio’s legacy was invented.

Also, in order to overcome visual fragmentation, we have developed a variation of the sabbren logo.

While Grigory and Boris were finishing the presentation, Taras finished the work, and Daria helped him with the sound escort.

Final statement

Ilya and Taras were working on the three-minute speech with a good distribution of parts of their statement, but no force majeure was spared. For example, after a successful rehearsal, Taras did not make it to the timemings at the main performance, and Elijah’s nose bled, but it was fate that there was a rerun before the customer.

And here’s the long-awaited announcement of the results: five teams out of 10 are winning, and they’re being selected for a special shortlist. The winners were selected by the CEO of the studio and heard «nottodayteam» was the highest award.

We’re very grateful for the opportunity to participate. In the course of the project, we grew up and believed in a fairy tale, as one of the studio movies recommends!
